Trauma-informed training helps staff understand how past experiences, including loss, illness, or distressing life events, can affect a person’s behaviour, emotions, and sense of safety.

When staff are trained in trauma-informed practice, they focus on creating a calm, respectful, and predictable environment where residents feel listened to, understood, and in control wherever possible.

For vulnerable adults living in a care home, this approach can lead to reduced anxiety and distress, improved trust and relationships with staff, and a greater sense of safety, dignity, and wellbeing.

We are currently rolling out this training within the home, which started yesterday when we partnered up with two other Fife-based Care Homes to come together in Dunfermline and work through scenarios relevant to our places of work.
